Halloween the best day of the year has finally come. I want to thank Countdown to Halloween for the chance to be a Cryptkeeper this year. I always love to share my Halloween antics with everybody. If you get a chance go check out the other Cryptkeepers for spooky fun.

This past Saturday I attended the annual Albany Oregon downtown trick-or-treat. To my surprise I spotted two fantastic crochet Halloween costumes. Since I was a kid I have always loved the comic strip Garfield. I've got a thing for fat cats....what can I say? I about died from all the cuteness these costumes have. Tons of work went into these little darlings. The lady has mad crochet skills that's for sure. 

Of course my nephew Journal won the costume contest. He was a "Lich" which according to him is an evil undead sorcerer.

This is apparently what Liches do. They eat souls for breakfast and broken hearts for lunch.

That evening my family and I took a tour of Haunted Albany on the Trolley of terror. Great ghost stories were told and spooky fun was had.

 Face it our country is in a recession right now and we are all looking to save a little money any way we can. This year try making your own Halloween costume. You'll be pleasantly surprised with what you can do with things you find around the house. Recently I was inspired by this old SNL skit featuring Adam Sandler to create my own crochet themed Halloween costumes.

Cute Crochet Skull Scarf Pattern

So don't want to spend all you hard earned cash on buying one of my skull scarves? Well fine then. I finally created a pattern for all you awesome crocheters out there.

 

One Of a kind crocheted skull scarf pattern by me Wicked Crochet! This is a pattern I love dearly. Please do not share or sell copies of this pattern. This pattern is for personal use only and is not for distribution in any form. Items made with this pattern may not be sold at any time.

 

You can use Worsted, DK, or Sport Weight Yarn. You will need two 100 gram skeins.

Gauge is unimportant in this project. Just change your hook size to correspond with the type of yarn you are using. For example if working with sport weight yarn use a size D (3.25mm) crochet hook etc.

Mr. Macabre's Hallowe'en Celebrations

I want to give a big creepy shout out to one of my favorite blogs Mr. Macabre's Hallowe'en Celebrations .  The other week I was the lucky winner of this awesome Zombie t-shirt.

Which I believe is modeled after this hilariously altered road sign that was spotted in Austin Texas.

  What a cool surprise to find all kinds of other spooky goodness along with my t-shirt.

I love the light up eyeball key chain! Please ignore my son's humongous feet in the back round. :)

Mr. Macabre is all about Halloween and his passion for resurrecting this amazing fun innocent holiday.  On Halloween night his home in Alabama is turned into "The Final Unresting Place Cemetery."  This is a family friendly haunt and he shows no depictions of blood or gore. But you don't really need that to get the pants scared off you.

Pumpkin Vine Scarf

"On Halloween night, the Great Pumpkin rises from his pumpkin patch and flies through the air with his bag of toys for all the children."

I absolutely love "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown." It's just not Halloween at our house unless we see it. Inevitable every trick-or-treat adventure I have with the kids one of them always answers my question of what they received in their treat bags with "I got a rock." This is my ode to The Great Pumpkin.
